The fire that broke out in Psychiko, Attica, on Friday afternoon is now without an active front. The blaze was burning at the highest point of the area, on the boundary with the upper section of Veikou Grove and Galatsi.
Sixty-four firefighters were mobilised at the scene, along with four ground crews from the 1st Special Disaster Response Unit (EMODE) and 15 vehicles, while two helicopters carried out water drops from the air. The Municipality of Psychiko also assisted the Fire Service’s operation with water tankers.
Athens’ Arson Investigation Unit has been mobilised to look into the causes of the fire.
