The Athens Security Directorate has arrested the two doctors, Ilias Theodoropoulos and Ioanna Gaka, who are at the center of the investigation into the death of Giorgos Mazonakis. The yet include a forensic report, as the post-mortem examination is expected to take place tomorrow in the presence of an independent technical adviser whose arrests came after investigators completed their search of the private clinic on Karneadou Street in Kolonaki and assessed the initial evidence collected.
A criminal case has been filed against the two doctors for fatal exposure, and following their arrests, they are expected to appear before the prosecutor responsible for the case. After reviewing the evidence gathered so far, the prosecutor is expected to decide whether to bring criminal charges.
It should be noted that the case file does not yet include a forensic report, as the post-mortem examination is expected to take place tomorrow in the presence of an independent technical adviser whose attendance was requested by the singer’s family.
The development came just hours after the two doctors were taken to the Athens Security Directorate, where they remained following the hours-long search of the clinic. The search was conducted in the presence of a prosecutor, an official from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations and officers from Greece’s “FBI.”
The late singer’s sisters, Maria and Vaso, also went to the Athens Security Directorate. Earlier, Greek police also conducted a search of the couple’s home in Psychiko.
