An alarm was raised on Monday morning (September 14) at Misrata Airport in Libya, when a private jet veered off the runway during landing and subsequently caught fire. The aircraft, a Cessna 680A Citation Latitude, reportedly belongs to Turkish billionaire and businessman Hamdi Akın.
According to the country’s Ministry of Transport, there have been no reports of fatalities or injuries. According to information from AirportHaber, the private jet, which was heading to Libya to pick up passengers, was carrying a pilot and one crew member, both of whom were rescued without suffering injuries.

A fire broke out at the scene, sending black smoke into the sky. Firefighters arrived shortly afterward to contain the blaze.
According to the Libyan News Agency (LANA), the incident resulted in the suspension of flights.
