New Democracy is in first place with 30.3% in vote estimate, according to a GPO poll for the newspaper Parapolitika.
ELAS is in second place with 15.8%, followed by PASOK with 13.1%. Hellenic Solution records 8.9%, KKE 8.7%, Course of Freedom 4.7%, Voice of Reason 4%, Hope for Democracy 3.8%, MeRA25 2.1%, SYRIZA 1.5%, Niki and New Left 1.2% each, while 4.7% opt for “another party”.
In voting intention, the figures are as follows: ND 25.8%, ELAS 13.5%, PASOK 11.2%, Hellenic Solution 7.6%, KKE 7.4%, Course of Freedom 4%, Voice of Reason 3.4%, Hope for Democracy 3.2%, MeRA25 1.8%, SYRIZA 1.3%, Niki and New Left 1% each, “another party” 4%, while 13.7% say they are undecided.
The poll also measured voters’ preferences for the next government, with 49.6% wanting a single-party government even if a second election is required, while 47.6% favour a coalition government. At the same time, when asked what should happen in the event of a coalition government, 52.1% said the prime minister should be the leader of the first-placed party, while 43.6% said it should be another mutually acceptable figure.
As for the TIF programs, 28.5% said they were more persuaded by what Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis had to say, 15.5% by Alexis Tsipras and 14% by Nikos Androulakis.
The ranking is similar when respondents were asked which political leader is most suitable to be prime minister: 29.5% named Kyriakos Mitsotakis, 14.6% Alexis Tsipras, 8% Nikos Androulakis, 5.1% Kyriakos Velopoulos, 4.1% Dimitris Koutsoumbas, 3.6% Zoe Konstantopoulou, 2.3% Yanis Varoufakis, 2.2% Afroditi Latinopoulou, 2.2% Maria Karystianou, 1.2% Dimitris Natsios, 0.8% Rena Dourou, 0.5% Gavriil Sakellaridis and 0.3% Stefanos Kasselakis.
Participants in the GPO survey were also asked how likely they would be to vote for a party led by Antonis Samaras, with 89.2% saying “little” or “not at all”, while 9.5% said “very” or “fairly” likely. At the same time, 55.2% believe that the former prime minister’s differences with Kyriakos Mitsotakis are personal, while 36.6% consider them political. Finally, 11.9% say that Antonis Samaras represents the political principles of New Democracy, with Kostas Karamanlis in first place at 34.1% and Kyriakos Mitsotakis second at 27.9%.
