Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis paid tribute to the memory of Pavlos Bakoyannis, 37 years after his assassination by the 17 November terrorist organisation, with a social media post in which he made particular reference to his legacy.

“We are following in his footsteps, fighting for what he wanted. For Greeks to prosper in unity. To overcome difficulties with truth as their weapon. And to build every day an even stronger and more democratic homeland,” Kyriakos Mitsotakis wrote.

Pavlos Bakoyannis was assassinated on this day, 26 September 1989, by 17 November outside his office on Omirou Street in Kolonaki.
