New Democracy is in first place and the gap between ELAS and PASOK has narrowed, according to an Interview poll conducted on behalf of the politic.gr website.

In the voting estimate, ND gains half a percentage point compared with the same company’s previous poll at the beginning of September, reaching 29.6%. ELAS is second at 15.4%, with a marginal loss compared with 15.4% on 3 September, while PASOK records a 0.8% increase, rising to 14% from 13.2%.

They are followed by Greek Solution at 8.6%, KKE at 6.6%, Hope for Democracy at 4.4%, Voice of Reason at 3.9%, MeRA25 at 3.3%, Course of Freedom at 3%, SYRIZA at 2.2%, Democrats at 1.4% and Niki at 0.7%.

In voting intention, the figures are as follows: ND 26.9%, ELAS 14%, PASOK 12.7%, Greek Solution 7.9%, KKE 6%, Hope for Democracy 4%, Voice of Reason 3.5%, MeRA25 3%, Course of Freedom 2.7%, SYRIZA 2%, Democrats 1.3%, Niki 0.6% and New Left 0.3%. The “other party” option stands at 6%, while undecided voters account for 9.1%.

Kyriakos Mitsotakis remains in first place when respondents are asked which politician they trust to govern the country, with 30.9%, followed by Alexis Tsipras with 15.7% of responses, Nikos Androulakis with 10.1%, Kyriakos Velopoulos with 5.2%, Dimitris Koutsoumbas with 4.6%, Maria Karystianou with 3.7%, Yanis Varoufakis with 3.4%, Afroditi Latinopoulou with 2.5% and Zoe Konstantopoulou with 2.3%.

The poll also measured voters’ criteria, with 64% of respondents saying they will go to the polls based on whom they want to take office, 25% saying they will vote based on whom they want to leave office, and 11% answering “other”.

At the same time, 67% believe that politicians switching parties are primarily motivated by personal political gain, while 27% believe that such moves undermine the credibility of politics. Meanwhile, 47% believe that a potential “Italianisation” of political life, with more parties and greater difficulty in forming stable governments, would pose a risk to political stability. The proposal attracting the greatest support is the gradual reinstatement of the 13th salary and 13th pension, compared with the “piggy bank for the new generation” and the annual “patriotic contribution”.
