Ukraine’s army announced today that it had struck Russia’s largest oil refinery, located deep in Siberia, around 2,500 kilometres from Ukraine.
The refinery in Omsk, operated by Gazprom Neft, was also attacked in July.

In its statement on the Telegram messaging app, the General Staff gave no details on the impact of the strike, but said the refinery supplies fuel to the Russian army.
The refinery halted operations over the summer after the attack it sustained.

Earlier, the governor of the Omsk region, Vitaly Khotsenko, said an industrial zone had been hit by drones, without giving further details.
Ukraine, which is under heavy missile and drone attack from Russia, is conducting its own campaign of long-range drone strikes against military, energy and commercial targets, in an effort to raise the cost to Moscow of continuing the war.
