Elderly care facility completed after nearly 20 years
One of the stops was the new Kilkis Nursing Home and Chronic Illness Treatment Centre, a public elderly care facility whose construction took almost two decades to complete.
The project began in 2006 and was only recently completed. The facility has a capacity of 50 beds.
Mitsotakis also visited the construction site of the road section connecting the Assiros and Nea Santa interchanges. The project is expected to improve transport links between Kilkis and Thessaloniki, while enhancing road safety and making journeys easier for local residents.
Construction is scheduled to be completed in spring 2027.
Visits to local businesses
The prime minister also toured the new production facility of the agricultural company Manitaria Kehagia, where he was briefed on mushroom production and packaging operations.
His itinerary included a visit to Zincometal SA, a manufacturer specialising in lighting poles, masts and road safety infrastructure.
The company employs more than 130 people and exports its products to markets across Europe and Africa.
