25 stolen ancient artefacts returned to Italy

After a cooperative movement between the Italian government and US officials

Twenty-five pieces of stolen antiquities were returned to Italy, by the US government. Said artefacts were discovered in museums, auction houses and private collections.

 

Wall paintings, manuscripts, amphorae illegally obtained were returned. Amongst them, an Etruscan vase dating back 2.5 millennia and ornate with dolphins, a marble sarcophagus and parts of wall paintings believed to have been removed from Pompey. They were about to be auctioned off.
