The adverse weather conditions currently reported in many areas in Greece have caused serious problems, including public transport disruption and flight delays.

A 38-year-old man almost drowned today on Lesvos Island when he was carried away by huge waves. The man was rushed to the hospital and he remains until now in the Intensive Care Unit in critical condition.

Moreover, 160 passengers traveling from “Eleftherios Venizelos” airport in Athens to “Odysseus Elytis” airport in Lesvos experienced moments of anguish yesterday, due to turbulence caused by strong winds.

After two failed attempts, the pilot finally managed to land the plane and several of the passengers reportedly broke down to tears of relief and joy.
