Shocking video footage and photos have been released showing the moment a boat full of migrants capsizes off the coast of Libya. The video was recorded by the Italian coast guard during their efforts to rescue 550 migrants on the boat. Unfortunately, 5 people were drowned in the Mediterranean Sea during the rescue operations.

The wooden boat was spotted by the Italian coast guard patrolling the area. 6,000 migrants and refugees were rescued in the Mediterranean Sea only in the past week bringing the total of rescued people by the Italian authorities since the beginning of the year to 40,000.
