Sad & rare sight: Turkish F-4Es and F-5s waiting to be scrapped! (VIRAL PHOTOS)

A sad end for the legendary fighters...

Newsroom April 3 12:27

A picture that went viral on the net shows ex-Turkish Air Force (THK) F-4Es Phantoms and F-5s Freedom Fighters piled up -literally- as they wait their turn to be scrapped at Izmit.

The two types have written pages of glory worldwide and they still fly in a few air forces.

Especially the F-5s had relatively recently been modernized and they were retired not so much due to their age or fighting performances, but for reasons that have to do with economies of scale and budget limitations.
