“Greece’s games can turn into Greek tragedy”, threatens Turkish MP Celik

He addressed a partisan crowd during a rally

Turkish MP and spokesperson for the ruling AKP party Omer Celik appeared unhinged during a party rally commenting on the developments in the Eastern Mediterranean.

Celik, who held the post of Chief Negotiator for Turkish Accession to the European Union, unleashed new threats against Greece during his address to a partisan crowd while presenting the government agenda.

The AKP representative, during his rant, said: “Greece is playing the game wrong. It is playing games that are beyond its size. We warn Greece. This game you are playing can be turned into a Greek tragedy. We will not be responsible. We will not allow you to play Greek theatre through diplomacy. They want to achieve something similar to the Treaty of Sevres,” Celik was quoted as saying.

He continued: “Greece wants to create a de facto situation in the region. This cannot happen without Turkey and the Turkish Cypriots. There can be no stability in the region without the credibility provided by Turkey and the Turkish Cypriot Republic.”

Elsewhere in his remarks, he described the recent defence agreement between Cyprus and France as “pirate”.

He also commented on Joe Biden’s comments about Erdogan, referring to them as “coup statements”.
