End titles for the Novak Djokovic drama – He departed from Melbourne for Dubai (video)

The Serbian President Vucic accuses Scott Morrison of a "political game" in view of the upcoming elections

Newsroom January 16 04:28

The Novak Djokovic’s drama in Australia has ended, with the last episode being written a few hours ago at Melbourne International Airport, Tularmarin.

There, at 22:30 local time, the Serbian tennis player boarded an Emirates flight to Dubai.

It is not known at this time what the famous tennis player will do next.

Djokovic, however, in his first statements said that he wants to rest.

Whether this will happen in his country or in Dubai will be seen in the coming hours.

The court’s decision on Sunday to cancel Novak Djokovic’s Australian visa was the end of a deeply saddened series of events and the Serb’s departure from the Australian Open was a loss for the sport, according to an ATP statement.

“Today’s decision to ratify Novak Djokovic’s Australian visa marks the end of a very sad series of events”, the ATP said in a statement.

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic has attacked the Australian government following the rejection of Novak Djokovic’s appeal against the decision to deport him.

The Serbian President Vucic accuses Scott Morrison of a “political game” in view of the upcoming elections. Vucic also accused the Australian Government’s lawyers of “lying” during previous “pointless” trials, when they stated that less than half of Serbs had been vaccinated.

“You saw in the pointless trial how many lies the accusers told”, he said. “They are just lying. They say that there are less than 50% of vaccinated people in Serbia, while officially the number is 58%. Do not forget that this percentage is higher than in many countries of the European Union. This was a pointless argument, but it is possible in the Orwellian performances”, the Serbian president continued.

Vucic also said that Australian athletes would be treated better when they arrive in Serbia for a track event in March and “and we will not mistreat them due to elections”.

The Serbian president said he had given Djokovic his full support and that he was looking forward to receiving him in Serbia, where he is always welcome.
