Bill Gates is visiting Greece at the invitation of Albert Bourla, CEO of Pfizer. The founder of Microsoft and one of the richest people in the world will be in Athens today and will also probably travel to islands in the coming days.
The American businessman and founder of Microsoft will stay a few days to see Greece, most likely together with Albert Bourla, who invited him.
Gates will stay in the presidential suite of the Hotel Great Britain. Gates was a speaker at the World Forum in Davos the previous days, while two weeks ago he was found positive for the coronavirus.
Microsoft has made a significant 1-billion-euro investment in Greece, which involves the creation of a large data centre to support cloud services aimed at customers of the Microsoft Azure platform. The infrastructure of this data centre will be set up in three different areas in Attica that will be interconnected and will have coverage in the wider region of SE Europe. The mega-investment will be fully operational in two-three years. Gates was in Greece in 2008 to inaugurate the Microsoft Innovation Centre in Athens.
