Mitsotakis on Erdogan: If Greece had 85% inflation, I would change the subject too

"If I were to respond to the statements of Turkish officials every time they provoke Greece verbally, I wouldn't be doing another job"

The Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis was Berlin, where he participated in the Process Summit for the Western Balkans hosted by German Chancellor Olaf Scholz.

Mr. Mitsotakis stated in his statements that Greece does not enter into a competition of statements with Turkey. “If I were to respond to the statements of Turkish officials every time they provoke Greece verbally, I wouldn’t be doing another job. We will not enter into a competition of statements, our positions are clear: I prefer to discuss the issues of the Greek economy and the geostrategic role of our country”, said the Πrime Μinister, answering a journalist’s question, adding that “if Greece had 85 % inflation and I would want to change the conversation too”.

The Prime Minister also stated that the government will continue to support, within its capabilities, households and businesses against the rise in accuracy, answering a question about the implementation of the new “household basket” measure.

With reference to the work of the Berlin Process Summit for the Western Balkans, the Prime Minister expressed his satisfaction, while he reiterated Athens’ ambition to play a leading role, which is also strengthened by the infrastructures that make Greece an energy hub between Southeast Europe and the Middle East. He insisted that the independence of the Western Balkan states from Russian natural gas is crucial and reiterated that all the states of the region recognize Greece as a force of stability and cooperation.
