Shooting outside Athens high school injures two people (photos)

One of the wounded was an Albanian who had been arrested in the past for drugs

Newsroom August 28 06:59

Police are looking for a man who last night opened fire on Panormou Street, in Ampelokipi, central Athens injuring 2 people. The Police are continuing their investigations through videos and testimonies of residents of the area as they failed to find any forensic evidence from the shooting.

The bloody incident occurred shortly after 8.30 pm on Sunday night, when, according to reports, a person fired outside the 16th Athens High School after a fight and then disappeared.

Emergency Police Officers rushed to the scene and found no injured person, but neither did they find any shell casings from the shooting.

A short time later, however, the police were informed by the Red Cross Hospital about two injured people, a 20-year-old Greek woman and a 32-year-old Albanian man, who suffered gunshot wounds.

The 20-year-old woman testified to the police that she received a ricochet bullet in the thigh while walking at the junction of Panormou and Larissa streets, while she does not know the 32-year-old Albanian.

As the investigation revealed, the other injured man is known to the authorities as he has been arrested in the past for a drug case and the police are considering the possibility that the 32-year-old was the target of the gunman.

At the same time, they are collecting footage from security cameras of shops in the area and witness statements in order to map the route taken by the gunman and lead them to his trail.
