The farmers seem determined to descend with the tractors to Athens on Tuesday, despite the fact that in their meeting yesterday with Michalis Chrysochoidis, the Minister of Protection of Citizen told them not to do so.
Specifically, during the meeting at the Ministry of Macedonia-Thrace, the farmers insisted on coming down with tractors, with the Minister of Civil Protection repeating that “the government is against this”, but he agreed to a descent with cars and buses.
“We will continue the mobilization, the struggle will not stop,” says the president of the Unitary Federation of Agricultural Associations n. Larissa Rizos Maroudas.
According to the same information, the number of farmers who want to come to Athens with their tractors is already in three digits.
“Tractors will come down from Northern Greece, farmers will come either with buses or tractors because it is now imperative to fight this great battle,” he says.
Farmers close the National Road Thessaloniki – Moudania indefinitely from today
Meanwhile, farmers say they are going to escalate their mobilizations, moving from symbolic road blockades to multi-hour road closures.
In particular, farmers in Halkidiki have announced that they will block indefinitely, from today at 10am, the Thessaloniki – Moudania highway.
The highway will probably not be opened for the whole weekend, as they stress, in order to press for the descent with tractors to the panagricultural rally in Athens to be allowed.
The Thessaloniki – Nea Moudania highway was also closed for two hours yesterday, after farmers blocked it at the Portaria junction.
