You won’t miss a mile over the speed limit from the new digital radars fitted…

More specifically, drivers crossing the motorway Athens-Thessaloniki-Euzoni, are under… strict speed control.

The wannabe… “Schumacher” who ignore speed limits are monitored by speed radars using the TraffiStar S290 M recording system.

The installation of the radars is on the 230km-long Raches Fthiotida-Kleidi Imathia section of the Aegean Motorway, and is part of efforts to enhance road safety announced by the Aegean Motorway company.

The radars were delivered to the Motorway Traffic Police Department of Magnesia by Aegean Motorway SA,

At the same time, utilizing the latest technology, means and resources, Aegean Motorway S.A. announces initiatives for:

To be able to quickly detect any vehicles moving in the opposite direction

Ensure the creation of suitable and protected areas for the rest of heavy vehicle drivers

Ensure and strengthen the control of driver fatigue

In this context, the Aegean Motorway has equipped and undertaken to enhance the training of Greek Police officers with:

Delivery of the TraffiStar S290M system for recording and photographing vehicles that violate the speed limit with radar technology to enhance policing at the Traffic Police Department of the Motorways of Magnesia and training of its personnel.

For any vehicles moving in the opposite direction, provision of a pilot system for detecting vehicles moving in the opposite direction to enhance policing at the Leptokaria Motorway Traffic Police Department of Pieria.

Establishment of a secure safe parking area for heavy vehicles in Aerinos Magnesia, in order to address the issue of fatigue of heavy vehicle drivers in passenger and freight road transport. The site is in the final construction phase and is expected to be operational during the summer.

Training of police authorities on how to better monitor and control “intelligent” tachographs

To address the risks posed by poorly loaded and poorly maintained heavy vehicles, which are mainly responsible for 14% of road obstruction-related incidents:
