Plot to “poison baths of Ukraine army commanders” foiled, Kyiv says

The attacker turned out to be an active serviceman of the Ukrainian army

Newsroom March 14 10:44

An alleged Russian spy who plotted to kill army commanders by poisoning their baths has been caught, Ukraine’s security service (SBU) has claimed.

The SBU has said its military counterintelligence stopped a Russian sabotage attempt in the Zaporizhzhia region and detained the suspect.

The service announced: “The attacker turned out to be an active serviceman of the Ukrainian army.

“To commit the crime, he planned to add a poisonous substance to the water of the bath and laundry complex, which was used by the command staff of the Armed Forces.”

The security service also reportedly found the suspect was recruited after Russian forces kidnapped his parents, who live in the occupied area of the Luhansk region.
