Singer Vasia Pappa has passed away. She served for many years in the realm of laiko, entehno, and the new wave music scene. She was married to director Theodoros Kalvos.
Vasia Pappa was born in Nikaia, Piraeus, to Greek Asia Minor parents, with roots in Pisidia, Cappadocia and Ikonio.
Her talent in singing was discovered by prominent songwriters and orchestra conductors when she was a young girl. She collaborated and performed songs by significant composers in the likes of Apostolos Kaldaras, Kostas Virvos, Lefteris Papadopoulos, Manos Loizos, Giorgos Mitsakis, Yiannis Papaioannou, Yiorgos Zambetas, Mimis Plessas, Mikis Theodorakis, Manos Hatzidakis, touring throughout Greece and abroad.

She met Theodoros Kalvos during a tour where they decided to cohabit during their time in Boston where they built a family. Her contribution to promoting Greek music abroad was significant. Upon her return to Greece, she lived in her beloved neighborhood in Paleo Faliro, living intensely and happily, helping and supporting others.
She also appeared in theater and music scenes collaborating with foreign and Greek artists including Nikos Rizos, Kostas Hatzichristos, Sperantza Vrana, Kallouta Sisters, Souli Sabah, Trio Grande, Katsampas Brothers, Leonidas Delis, Pavlos Papantoniou, Takis Panagopoulos, Olympians, Paschalis, Harry Klynn, Stratos Dionysiou, Manolis Aggelopoulos, Stamatis Kokotas, Martha Karagianni, Andreas Barkoulis, Theodoros Kalvos, and many others.
Her funeral will take place at the cemetery of Paleo Faliro on Thursday, April 18th, at 12:30 PM.
