The Municipality of Athens organized an Easter meal to support vulnerable groups and homeless citizens, fostering a sense of warmth, love, and generosity. The event, called the Open Meal of Love, occurred at noon in the Rouf Indoor Gymnasium, featuring music and a positive atmosphere. Athens Mayor Haris Doukas emphasised the city’s solidarity, expressing a commitment to standing together every day, especially with those facing adversity. He wished everyone good health and a happy Easter.
The Easter meal in Athens was organised with support from OPANDA and with the assistance from the Municipality’s Directorate of Cleanliness and Recycling, which provided space and transportation. Meals, including lamb stew and traditional sweets, were distributed to hosting facilities and people on the streets, with ongoing actions throughout the holiday period.
During Holy Week, KYADA distributed Easter gifts and candles to children, ensuring no one missed out. President Ioanna Gennimata highlighted their mission to reduce inequalities and promote social inclusion. Enhanced food packages with Easter products were provided to vulnerable households by Citizens’ Solidarity Hub. The Easter Sunday meal at Rouf Indoor Gymnasium was supported by Lidl Hellas.
