The Slovak PM Robert Fico underwent an additional CT scan

He is conscious and communicating with his surroundings

Newsroom May 21 01:56

Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico has undergone a repeat CT scan of his abdomen, remains conscious and is communicating with his surroundings, his treating doctors said today, while he is recovering from injuries sustained from four bullets fired in an attempted assassination attempt against him last week.

“At the same time, further actions are being taken to improve his health condition,” the hospital in Banska Bistrica, central Slovakia, said in a statement.

Wednesday’s attack, the first major assassination attempt against a European political leader in more than 20 years, exposed the deep political divisions in Slovak society.
