The country is in a heatwave with the mercury soaring and temperatures hovering around August levels. Indicative of the wave of high heat that is creeping into the country is the meteo data with maximum temperatures as recorded up to noon on Tuesday.
The center of Athens was in a furnace with the mercury exceeding 38 degrees, specifically the thermometer showed 38.4 degrees.
In Elefsina the thermometer showed 39.2 degrees Celsius, while in Thebes (on the highway) it reached 39.1 degrees. In Agioi Theodoroi the thermometer showed 38.7 degrees Celsius, while in Aspropyrgos, Amfissa and Sparta 38.6 degrees Celsius.

Winds will blow from the north 4 to 5, in the Ionian Sea occasionally up to 6 Beaufort and in the Aegean Sea 5 to 7 Beaufort. The temperature will drop slightly further mainly in the south with maximum values around 33 to 34 degrees Celsius and only in the southeastern islands of Greece will reach 35 to 36 degrees Celsius.
