In a new video making the rounds online, Duke of Sussex Harry opens up about his mother’s sudden death in 1997 and his feelings about being an orphan.
The 39-year-old “rebel” of the British royal family, who has been living in Florida, USA, with his family in recent years, shares that after Princess Diana’s sudden death, he became emotionally withdrawn.
In the video, the red-haired second son of Britain’s King Charles reveals the overwhelming emotions he experienced at a tender age, moving many viewers.
Prince Harry discusses the pain of losing his mother Diana in this new emotional video.
As a global ambassador for Scotty’s Little Soldiers, an organization supporting young people who have lost parents in the military, Harry explains that he felt immense grief and emphasizes the importance of sharing one’s pain to alleviate it.
Reflecting on losing his mother, Princess Diana, at just 12 years old, Harry admits he struggled to express his feelings and eventually sought psychotherapy.
The emotionally charged video was filmed last May during his last visit to the United Kingdom, as reported by the British newspaper Daily Mail.
“Talk about your grief, or it will ‘eat’ you inside,” Harry advises in the video, drawing from his own experience of growing up without one parent.
“It’s so easy as a child to convince yourself that you have to be as sad as possible to prove that you miss them. But then there’s the realization that they must want me to be happy,” he says.
