Shortly after 1 a.m. on Saturday night, the 56-year-old woman has stopped her wheelchair in the right lane of Patision Street, heading toward America Square. In the video document presented by protothema.gr the vehicle is seen moving at high speed and hitting the 56-year-old woman, causing her to be ejected at a great distance.

The driver continues on at the same speed and disappears without even seeing what has happened behind him.

The video shows the unlucky woman having fallen to the ground, while in the following minutes she receives first aid from passers-by before being taken by ambulance, slightly injured, to the Red Cross Hospital.

A short time later, police officers of the OPKE team patrolling the area spotted the driver of the car in the area of Kypseli and handcuffed him. As established by the preliminary investigation of the Traffic Police, the 36-year-old, a citizen of Georgia, was driving having consumed a large amount of alcohol and without wearing a seat belt at the time he hit the 56-year-old woman leaving her at the scene of the accident.
