A short while ago, Greece’s Olympic team returned to the country on an AEGEAN flight from Paris.
Greece secured 8 medals at the Paris Olympic Games, including 1 gold, 1 silver, and 6 bronze. The only gold medal was won by Miltos Tentoglou in long jump, who drew all the photographers’ attention.
It is worth noting that due to the fires in Attica, the welcome ceremony was subdued, and no special reception was held. For the same reason, SEGAS canceled the scheduled press conference for the Olympians at “Eleftherios Venizelos” Airport.
The spotlight was also on Emmanouil Karalis, who won the bronze medal in the pole vault and was the flag bearer for Greece at the closing ceremony.
The bronze medalist in wrestling, Dauren Kurugliev, also returned to Greece along with the two athletics medalists, as well as members of the athletics team and the players of the national water polo teams!
The men’s national water polo team finished 5th, and the women’s team finished 7th. The synchronized swimming girls, Evangelia Platanioti and Sofia Malkogeorgou, who placed 6th, were also celebrated at “Eleftherios Venizelos.”
In the past few days, the rowing Olympians Papakonstantinou-Gaidatzis, Fitsiou-Kontos, the rings Olympian Lefteris Petrounias, the judo Olympian Theodoros Tselidis, and the swimming Olympian Apostolos Christou had returned to Greece.
