It should be noted that similar violent scenes occurred the night before at a celebration in Grigoriou Lambraki Square, Korydallos, where around ten people got into a physical altercation that escalated, leaving three injured, including a minor.

Among the injured was Korydallos’ deputy mayor, Charalambos Tsirakidis, who was attacked while approaching the scene to try to calm things down during the intense brawl.

“I have no idea how or why the fight started. I was sitting on the opposite side and went over to see what was happening. We were there with other municipal members and saw something going on, so we went to break it up. As soon as they saw us approaching, me and another deputy mayor, they started throwing tables and chairs at us. I don’t even remember how many people there were,” Mr. Tsirakidis told Protothema, who was taken to the hospital with injuries to his left hand and back.

The second deputy mayor of Korydallos was also taken to Attiko Hospital after being hit on the head with an object thrown by the angry youths.

It was also reported that a 16-year-old boy arrived at the police station with his father to give a statement. It was revealed that during the altercation, the boy was punched, but he did not wish to go to the hospital. An ambulance arrived and provided him with first aid.
