A Super Puma helicopter from the Greek Air Force transported a sailor from a tanker that was sailing off the coast of Donousa to the hospital, as he required immediate medical attention.
Specifically, the incident occurred on the afternoon of Thursday, October 24. The Syros Port Authority was notified by the Unified Coordination Center for Search and Rescue (UCCSR) of the Hellenic Coast Guard that a 22-year-old foreign national (Lebanese citizen) who was a crew member (rated as a sailor) aboard the cargo ship “NESREENA,” which was located 7.6 nautical miles east of Donousa, needed urgent hospital care.

Immediately, under the coordination of the UCCSR, a Super Puma helicopter from the Greek Air Force took off, picked up the 22-year-old, and transported him to the Syros airport.
He was then picked up by an ambulance from the National Center for Emergency Care (EKAV) and transported to the General Hospital of Syros.
