Dimitris Samolis gave an interview on the show “Buongiorno” on October 30 and spoke about the acceptance from his father, which only came when he acted in ‘Agries Melisses,’ (‘Wild Bees’).
The actor mentioned that when he participated as a child in theater performances, his father was negative about it and only admitted that he had talent once he saw him in the ANT1 series. He also confessed that although he faced bullying at school, he emerged stronger from the experience.
More specifically, the actor said: “I secretly went to the audition for ‘The Sound of Music’ because my father was not very happy about the whole process. My father only became happy when I acted in ‘Wild Bees.’ That’s when he realized that for my child to be in ‘Wild Bees,’ something good must have happened.”
He then added: “The first time he saw me on stage, I was performing in a children’s play. He came backstage at the end, looked me in the eyes, and said: ‘Hey Dimitris, I don’t see anything.’ I got even angrier then. I wasn’t pleased with his acceptance in ‘Wild Bees.’ I would have liked him to accept me without ‘Wild Bees.'”
In closing, Dimitris Samolis confessed: “In my childhood, I was teased at school. I didn’t retreat into my shell; I came out, became very strong, and became tough, which is negative.”
