Palestine: At least ten killed in Israeli strikes as pressure on northern Gaza Strip continues

Several people were injured in two attacks, with reports indicating that Israeli forces deployed tanks to the northeastern section of Nuseirat refugee camp

Newsroom November 4 05:09

At least ten Palestinians were killed in Israeli airstrikes on Gaza today. Seven people lost their lives in an attack on two homes in the northern Gaza city of Beit Lahia, while three others were killed in a strike on a home in the Nuseirat camp in central Gaza, according to medical sources cited by Reuters.

Israeli forces reportedly advanced tanks into Jabalia, Beit Hanoun, and Beit Lahia on October 5, stating the operation’s goal was to disrupt Hamas’ ability to regroup.

Palestinians have described the renewed air and ground assault and forced evacuations as “ethnic cleansing,” aiming to empty two northern Gaza cities and a refugee camp of their populations to create buffer zones. Israel denies this, asserting that its operations are directed at Hamas fighters launching attacks from those areas.

According to Gaza’s Hamas-led government press office, 1,800 Palestinians have been killed since October 5, with an additional 4,000 injured. There has been no confirmation from Gaza’s Health Ministry, and Israel has repeatedly accused the Hamas-run press office of inflating the casualty numbers.

Israel reported that its forces had killed hundreds of Palestinian militants and dismantled military infrastructure in Jabalia over the past month.

The conflict erupted on October 7, 2023, when Hamas-led fighters attacked Israel, killing around 1,200 people and taking 251 hostages back to Gaza, according to Israeli counts.

In retaliatory Israeli strikes, at least 43,300 Palestinians have been killed, according to Gaza authorities, and much of the Gaza Strip has been reduced to rubble.
