Vice President Kamala Harris called Donald Trump on Wednesday afternoon to congratulate him.
An adviser to Harris said the vice president “called President-elect Trump to congratulate him on his victory in the presidential election. They discussed the importance of a peaceful transition of power and being a president for all Americans.”
Harris is expected to make remarks at 4 p.m. (11 p.m. ET) at Howard University, the university from which she graduated and which she chose for election night.
After the first results on Troy night, when the polls closed, Harris had avoided making any public appearances since the results were putting Trump in victory lane.
Trump himself came out after midnight Tuesday (Wednesday morning in Greece) to declare victory. Harris, however, was nowhere to be found.
