The Israeli army (IDF) said in a statement that it destroyed two major tunnel systems and killed several members of the Hamas, including two who participated in the October 7 attack, during a recent operation in the southern Gaza Strip.
According to the IDF, together the tunnels were over over two kilometers in length, and, they did not cross into Israeli territory. At the same time, they had about 10 exit shafts, some of which were booby-trapped with explosives. Soldiers also found weapons inside the tunnels.

During the operation, Israeli soldiers exchanged fire with several gunmen who emerged from the tunnels. The IDF stressed that some of the Hamas members were killed by ground forces and others by airstrikes.
According to the statement, two of the Hamas members killed in the operation were involved in the October 7 attack.
