SYRIZA continues to lose members at its grassroots level, with resignations escalating ahead of the upcoming elections for a new party leader scheduled for this Sunday, according to sources close to Stefanos Kasselakis’ team.
Today alone, in the Pella region—where the now-independent MP Theodora Tzakri is elected—over 1,000 members reportedly submitted resignation letters to the party’s secretary.
Specifically, 350 resignations came from the Giannitsa area, around 400 from Edessa, 200 from Almopia, and 100 from Skydra, according to the same sources.
The majority of resigning members are protesting against “undemocratic processes” and alleged violations of procedures and bylaws that occurred before and during the recent party congress held in Gazi. They also expressed frustration over the perceived disregard for their votes and overall mismanagement within the party, the sources added.
