An arrest of a police officer who had been serving in the Parliament Security Service since early 2019 has been made by the relevant authorities on serious charges of domestic violence and rape of his minor children.
According to information from senior parliamentary sources, the complaint against the police officer for domestic violence was made by his wife, also a police officer and mother of four children, last Monday, November 18, 2024, at the Kallithea police station. The police officer was immediately arrested while on duty guarding the central building of the Parliament.
The next day, November 19, by the decision of the guard of the Parliament, the police officer was expelled from the guard service of the Parliament, while on November 20 the competent authorities decided the pre-trial detention of the accused for one year with probation.
The same sources claim that the accused threatened to commit suicide and as a result, was taken to a psychiatric hospital. Immediately after his confinement in the mental hospital on Nov. 20, his wife revisited the police station adding to the initial allegations of domestic violence and the serious charges of rape of their children by her husband.
According to all reports, custody of the children has been temporarily removed from the family by order of the competent juvenile prosecutor’s office. The police officer in question had been serving in the Parliamentary Security Service since early 2019 and had been deprived of the ability to carry a gun for psychological reasons.
