Murder of Faye Bakoyorgou: ‘He killed my daughter after taking advantage of her’ father testified for landlady

The 57-year-old landlady of the victim is accused of her murder and her mother and sister are accused of simple complicity in the crime of manslaughter

Newsroom December 2 06:26

With the testimony of the 23-year-old woman’s father, Faye Bakoyorgou, the trial for the abuse and murder of the young woman began on the merits today, with her mother, sister, and 57-year-old landlady accused.

This unprecedented case of brutal, to-the-death, abuse saw the light of day about a year ago when the three defendants who are now sitting in the dock of the Mixed Jury Court of Athens were brought before the Justice.

In the warrant issued by the judicial authorities referring the three women to trial, they described savage beatings the young woman and mother of three children suffered for prostituting and begging with the “proceeds” from this activity going to her landlord.

According to the verdict, the tortures of the unfortunate girl, who was eventually murdered inside the 57-year-old’s apartment in Kypseli, where she was “hosted” with her three children, were known to her mother and sister.

The body of Faye Bakoyorgou was found by passers-by on a sidewalk on October 8, 2021, wrapped in a blanket.

The 57-year-old landlady of the victim is accused of her murder and her mother and sister are accused of simple complicity in the crime of manslaughter.

In his court testimony today, N. Bakoyorgos said the last time he had seen his daughter “she was in good health.”

The father of the unfortunate girl turned his fire on the 57-year-old defendant in the case. “She killed my daughter after taking advantage of her,” he said, noting that he had not understood from the beginning the calvary his daughter was climbing.”

“She was in her pajamas when they found my child. My daughter was found outside a parking lot wrapped in a blanket and on her head with a diaper bag,” he testified, claiming that although a bystander spotted the body on October 8 he was notified on November 11.

“He (the bystander) picked up the blanket with a stick and called the police. After the sixth call, a police car went there. Shameful, disgraceful,” the witness said.

Court: If the body was found by October, why was the identification made so late, a month later?
Witness: I don’t know… nobody called me. On November 11 we were told that she was already buried.
Court:In what condition was your daughter found?
Witness: I was told that her ear and nose were eaten off. The man didn’t take the whole blanket off, as soon as he saw the face he left the blanket and took the 100.

I understand that the man was not able to take the whole blanket off.

However, the defense countered by saying it was manslaughter. “Pulmonary edema, the coroner says, not homicide. Let’s look at our share of death, but that’s about it. Are we going to be tried on TV gossip?” said the defense attorney for the accused landlady.
