Phoebus Delivorias: “Theodoros Kolokotronis gave my surname to my great-grandfather”

"He was a postman, and Kolokotronis used to say, 'You run like Delivorias,'" he mentioned

Newsroom January 16 12:39

In an interview, Phoebus Delivorias revealed the origin of his surname, explaining that it was given to his great-grandfather, whose original surname was Stathopoulos, by Theodoros Kolokotronis.

As he explained during his appearance on the show “Tet-A-Tet,” Kolokotronis nicknamed him “Delivorias” due to his speed as a postman. The artist also spoke about the financial hardships he faced in 2018, highlighting that, given his role, he does not find it appropriate to receive exorbitant fees from public projects.

His interview will air on Sunday, January 19, on Alpha Cyprus. Referring to the origin of his surname, Phoebus Delivorias stated: “Theodoros Kolokotronis gave my surname to my grandfather—well, my great-grandfather, actually—who was originally named Stathopoulos but worked as a postman. ‘You run like Delivorias,’ he used to say.”

He went on to talk about himself and his wife, who are both artists, and commented on their earnings. “My wife and I are both artists. I remember in 2018, for the first time, reaching the end of the month and having very little money because we were living through a period of economic crisis. I don’t believe that I, too, should take crazy amounts of money from a public project,” he concluded.

Mitsotakis: “Farmers will receive every euro they are entitled to — Solutions come through dialogue, not roadblocks”

Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis assured farmers that all payments owed to them will be delivered in full, emphasizing that while agricultural workers have every right to demand more support, “extreme forms of protest, such as roadblocks, may exert pressure but ultimately disrupt daily life and do not help us move forward faster”
