An agricultural rally will take place this afternoon in Thessaloniki, organized by farmers and shepherds who are continuing their protests following a meeting with a delegation of ministers on Friday, February 14th.

At 6:30 PM, they will gather outside the Central Macedonia Region, with the demand to meet with Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis to present their demands.

A symbolic number of tractors from the Gyrtoni blockade, accompanied by police to avoid traffic problems on the national road, will head towards the second-largest city.

Farmers and shepherds from blockades in Thessaly and other parts of Greece will travel to Thessaloniki by bus to take part in the protest.

Among their demands, farmers are asking for:

  • Compensation for the lost income of all producers, with specific amounts for each crop.
  • Reduction of production costs, with tax-free fuel at the pump, a price of 7 cents per kilowatt-hour for agricultural electricity, and subsidies for agricultural and livestock supplies.
  • Minimum guaranteed prices for products that will ensure income with which farmers and shepherds can remain in the production process.
