The Greek Army around the world on army.gr: Website revamp with a focus on deterrence

User-friendly, modern, and imposing—the newly revamped website of the Hellenic Army has undergone a radical transformation, retaining only its electronic address, army.gr, from its previous version.

The official website of the Hellenic Army now caters to a wide range of users, addressing not only military personnel but also friends, allies, and even “adversaries” of Greece. Its primary aim is to showcase the deterrent power of the Hellenic Army and its role in ensuring security for Greek citizens, as well as NATO and European allies.

At the same time, the upgraded website highlights the contributions of the Ministry of National Defense and the Hellenic National Defense General Staff (GEETHA) in supporting both personnel and conscripts. It also offers a preview of the future of the Greek Armed Forces, following a path of transformation under a New Structure designed to reflect the strategic objectives of “Agenda 2030.”

The Army Across the Globe

One of the key innovations of the revamped website is an interactive map displaying multiple points of interest in real time—locations where Hellenic Army personnel are currently deployed. This includes peacekeeping missions, training programs, NATO headquarters, European military commands, embassies, and more.

More importantly, the modernized version of army.gr aims to enhance usability and appeal to the younger generation. Through the revamped platform and social media channels, the website seeks to generate increased interest in military academies in the near future. This initiative is supported by a range of benefits that the Ministry of National Defense has planned for students enrolled in these institutions.
