Musk puts a stop to the parody accounts in X

They should make it clear that they are humorous in natur

Newsroom April 8 02:23

New and stricter regulations for parody accounts are being implemented by X as of April 10.

From now on, all such accounts that parody another user or person, usually a public one, will have to have words like “fake” or “parody” in their account. They should even have a different image on their account than the one they are parodying.

The BBC reports that some users had complained about the confusion created by the accounts, especially those parodying the platform’s owner, Elon Musk.

Some appear to be humorous, and there are no shortage of those promoting cryptocurrency or…giving away cars.

As early as January, X has been asking accounts with a parody character to make it clear that they have that character.

However the measure, combined with the blue tick of certification, may not be effective.
