A woman was publicly beheaded in Mecca, Saudi Arabia, after sentenced to killing her step-daughter. Footage of the execution was sent to the media and shows the woman shouting profusely, “I did not kill! I did not kill!” She then screamed as the sword reached her throat. She was struck three times at the neck before being completely beheaded.
No painkillers were used as the authorities were intent on making the experience more painful and powerful for the woman.
A statement by the Ministry of the Interior of Saudi Arabia states:
“The Ministry of the Interior announces this news to confirm that the government of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, may God protect him, is greatly concerned with restoring security and realising justice. It implements the rulings of God against all those who attack innocents and spill their blood. The government warns all those who are seduced into committing similar crimes that the rightful punishment is their fate.”
The execution, the ninth for 2015, had stirred debates on forums and has concerned human rights groups.
