Speech in Italian, pizza and ice cream: Charles celebrated his wedding anniversary with Camilla in Rome

The Royal couple of the United Kingdom pays a four-day official visit to Italy

Newsroom April 9 09:50

King Charles King Charles, as part of his official visit to Italy, delivered a speech this afternoon before members of the Italian parliament.

“Unfortunately, the echoes of those times that we thought belonged definitively to history have today begun to resound again on our continents. Peace can never be taken for granted. Italy and Great Britain are united in the defence of democratic values, which we share,” the British monarch stressed.

Charles wanted to speak Italian and, addressing MPs and senators, he stressed that he “hoped he had not destroyed Dante’s language.”

At the same time, he added that Italy was and would always be in his heart, which was also true of his mother Elizabeth, who, he recalled, had visited Sicily shortly after the murder of Judge Giovanni Falcone in a Cosa Nostra bombing.
