Tsipras unveils 6 initial “commitments”, effective immediately

Tsipras blames ND leadership and its last-ditch scare-mongering: ''Our political program will not be annulled by any post-election partnership or collaboration”

Newsroom January 20 09:45

Main opposition SYRIZA leader Alexis Tsipras continued his high-pitched attack against ruling conservative New Democracy party’s leadership on Tuesday, speaking at a pre-election rally in the northern city of Thessaloniki.

Beginning next Monday, a SYRIZA government will not distinguish between leftists, rightists or centrists, he said, adding that his party’s  “political program will not be annulled by any post-election partnership or collaboration”. Mr. Tsipras refered to a panic-stricken Prime Minister Antonis Samaras.

He warned that his party had “no magic wand to bring back in a few days what was destroyed over many years”, however he did commit to “changing Greece’s course in Europe” by “guaranteeing our dignity, our deposits,  decent pensions, as well as agricultural subsidies. guaranteeing stability and security for our country”; “ending foreclosures for primary homes”; “fair taxation, with tax-free ceiling set at 12,000 euros, removing the ENFIA (property tax) and replacing it with Large Property Tax”; “ending links with vested interests and putting an end to under-the-table political financing”; and finally, “addressing the humanitarian crisis and applying immediate measures to restart the economy.”
