“A model for the international arena” is what Constantine Tasoulas called the relationship between Greece and Egypt, as he received Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi at the Presidential Palace.

“Because our long-standing relationship that has passed the test of centuries is characterized by relations of friendship and cooperation. These relations are the whole essence of the UN’s constitutional principles,” the Greek President of Democracy added.

“This relationship has room for improvement. Seeing the representatives of the two countries, I think that this room covers a wide range of topics from security and education to culture.”

He concluded by stressing that “Egypt and Greece are pillars of stability and must always come together against the other side that only creates misery.”

“Friend of the Greek people”

For his part, El-Sisi thanked his Greek counterpart for the reception, recalling that this is the 5th time he is visiting Greece and this is a proof of the good relationship between the two nations.

“I would like you to allow me to extend my warm greetings to the friendly Greek people,” the Egyptian president continued.

Egypt stands for peace and coordination between us aims at the stability of the region, El-Sisi continued, referring to the scope for improving relations between the two countries.

We are focusing on the Gaza issue, working for the ceasefire, the return of hostages, the Egyptian President said.

Referring to immigration, the Egyptian president noted that there are 9 million people who want to leave Gaza and go to Egypt. “We want the Palestinians to stay in the Gaza Strip,” he stressed in this context.

Since 2016, Egypt has not been a bridge for immigrants to leave for Europe, Mr. El-Sisi also noted, adding, “for us, this is a moral and humanitarian issue. We do not want to create a problem for our European partners.”

“We say we should deal with illegal immigration, but legal immigration also needs coordination,” the Egyptian president continued.

“Both us and Greece are interested in stability,” Abdel Fattah El-Sisi concluded.
