Newsroom May 19 11:00

Parisian judicial police, while investigating a fraud case, stumbled upon a remarkable discovery: The white marble statue of Jim Morrison, leader of The Doors, which had been stolen from Père Lachaise Cemetery in 1988. The statue a work by Croatian artist Mladen Mikulin, disappeared shortly after Morrison’s death and had been prominently displayed at the cemetery for a decade following his passing.

The unexpected find resulted from an investigation conducted by the financial crimes and anti-corruption units of the Paris police judicial department. Sources cited by AFP detail the discovery’s origins within this ongoing probe.
