Home delivery of medicines by the National Organization for the Provision of Health Services (EOPYY) will begin on June 16, as announced by Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis and Health Minister Adonis Georgiadis at EOPYY’s Conference Center in Pefki.

The Prime Minister described it as “an important and moving day, as a long-standing vision and request by patient associations for the obvious right to home delivery of medicines becomes a reality.”

Referring to the shameful images that hastened the implementation of the measure, Mr. Mitsotakis said: “When I saw them, I said there must be a better way to serve patients.”

“Behind every such initiative lies a great deal of regulatory and legislative work to ensure that it is implemented with the required consistency,” added the Prime Minister, who explained that “we are starting with a certified company” and asked citizens “to trust this distribution channel, which will make life much better and easier.”

“I hold on to two words. The first is dignity. It is not dignified for a struggling fellow citizen to spend hours in line. The second is care. A state cares for the citizens who are in need and puts into practice EOPYY’s emblem of people embracing, symbolizing the care the organization must provide,” the Prime Minister added.

In closing, he stated, “We will be closely monitoring to address any difficulties,” and he thanked the patient associations “because we have developed significant dialogue with the Health Ministry, and you present to us the real picture of the problems where they exist.”
