Spyros Protopsaltis Elected New President of the European Network of Public Employment Services (PES Network)
During the 23rd Board of Directors meeting of the European Network of Public Employment Services (PES Network), held on June 5 and 6, 2025, in Warsaw, the Governor of the Greek Public Employment Service (DYPA), Spyros Protopsaltis, was elected President of the Network.
This marks the first time a Greek has assumed the role of President of the PES Network, a distinction that is a great honor both for DYPA and for Greece.
The PES Network is an institutional European cooperation mechanism that brings together the public employment services of EU Member States, the European Commission, and countries of the European Economic Area (Norway, Iceland, Liechtenstein). In total, the Network includes 31 members: the 27 EU Member States, the 3 EEA countries, and the European Commission.
It was established in 2014 by a decision of the European Parliament and Council, with the aim of enhancing the effectiveness of public employment services. The Network serves as a platform for cooperation and the exchange of best practices, promoting employment and the improvement of services offered to citizens and employers. Its key objectives include the continuous enhancement of services, mutual learning through knowledge and practice sharing, and contributing to the implementation of the European Employment Strategy. The Network is supported by the European Commission.
Mr. Protopsaltis’ election as President is a recognition of Greece’s significant progress in reducing unemployment by 54% over the past five years—the largest decrease in Europe—as well as the major transformation of DYPA in recent years and Greece’s active contribution to shaping European labor market policy.
Statement by Spyros Protopsaltis:
We aim to leave no one behind and to reinforce social cohesion within the framework of the digital and green transformation of the economy.”
“It is a great honor to be elected President of the PES Network, and I sincerely thank the members of the Board for their trust. In recent years, DYPA has made significant progress and now offers modern, high-quality, and effective services to citizens and businesses.
As President, my goal is to further strengthen cooperation among Europe’s public employment services, harness innovation and digitalization, and exchange solutions that address the major challenges of our time, such as the green transition, digital transformation, and inclusion in a constantly evolving labor market.
