Tom Cruise has entered the Guinness World Records for the scene with the flaming parachute in the film Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning, having performed 16 jumps from a helicopter with a parachute soaked in fuel and set ablaze — a feat that, according to the official Guinness Records account, no other actor or stunt performer has even approached.
The scene was filmed in the Drakensberg Mountains of South Africa, with Cruise and his team preparing for weeks. The actor ascended to over 75,000 feet in a helicopter before making the jump with the flaming parachute. During the fall, he detached from the main parachute and deployed a backup to land safely.
