KYSEA: Concern over the risk of a serious flare-up in the Middle East – Athens calls on Israel and Iran for restraint

The Greek government has called on the international community to take action to prevent a regional conflict following Israel's attack on Iran

The National Security Governmental Council (KYSEA) convened urgently for more than 1.5 hours on Friday afternoon after the dramatic developments in the Middle East due to Israel’s attack on Iran.

The Prime Minister returned urgently from Sweden, where he was strengthening bilateral relations, especially in the fields of economy and defense.

Earlier today, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement due to the state of emergency declared in Israel after the attack on Iranian targets. Greek citizens currently in the country were urged to stay in safe places near shelters and to strictly follow the instructions of local authorities.

Furthermore, the Ministry called on the international community to take action to prevent a regional war.
