GPO Poll: ND leads with 30.3%, tough battle between PASOK and Course of Freedom for second place and SYRIZA plummets to 6.1%

The areas of government work that perform best are digital transformation with 57.4%, national defence with 48.3%, attracting foreign investment with 38.5% and foreign policy with 36.3%

Newsroom June 16 11:44

The government appears to be recovering and stabilizing in the polls near the results of the European elections, while the opposition scene remains fragmented, with PASOK and Course of Freedom alternating and competing for second place, but still far behind New Democracy (ND), according to the GPO poll for the Parapolitika radio station.

In the voting intention with recalculation, New Democracy gathers 30.3%, PASOK follows with 14.7%, Course of Freedom is the third party with 14.6%, while Greek Solution follows at 10.8%. The percentage for KKE stands at 8.4%, SYRIZA at 6.1%, and Voice of Reason at 3.5%. Democracy Movement collects 2.8%, NIKI 2.6%, New Left 1.8%, and MeRA25 1.2%.

In responses to the question about which party they would vote for if elections were held tomorrow, ND records 26%, PASOK follows with 12.7%, and closely behind is Course of Freedom with 12.5%.

32.9% view the overall government performance positively, compared to 67%, with the sectors of government work showing the highest ratings being the digital transformation of the state at 57.4%, national defense at 48.3%, attraction of foreign investments at 38.5%, and foreign policy at 36.3%.

On the other hand, the government receives low ratings from citizens on the issue of inflation at 14.2%, crime handling at 17.6%, taxation at 23%, migration at 23.4%, and justice system operation at 23.8%.

50.4% of the population has seen a worsening of their personal financial situation, while 42.4% see stability compared to the last six months. Similar percentages are observed for the overall economic situation of the country, with the improvement index at 15.1%, double that of personal financial improvement.

In responses to the question about which party they would vote for if elections were held tomorrow, ND records 28.1%, PASOK follows with 12.7%, and Course of Freedom close behind at 12.5%.

On the question of the most suitable prime minister, Kyriakos Mitsotakis continues to lead with 27.2%, while all others are in single digits.

The overall assessment of Mr. Mitsotakis’s six years in office is positive for 38.8% of the electorate, who consider him a good or fairly good prime minister, against 60.9% who evaluate his tenure as bad or fairly bad.

A negative evaluation by 79.6% of the total is recorded for PASOK’s opposition performance, which remains trapped in the dilemma of cooperation or autonomous path, with 44.2% favoring alignment with other progressive left parties and 40.4% choosing the path of autonomy.

This dilemma is strong even among the party’s voters, with 53.8% favoring cooperation and 45.2% favoring the movement’s autonomous presence.

The inability of the center-left parties to become real contenders for power sustains discussion about a possible return of former prime minister and SYRIZA leader Alexis Tsipras with a new political entity, which 17% of the total say is very or quite likely to vote for. This 17% consists of 57.2% of SYRIZA voters, 20.5% of Course of Freedom, and 15.1% of KKE.
